Cupertino, Calif.-based tech giant Apple on Thursday announced that its App Store had hit a new milestone by scoring 50 billion downloads.

The 50 billionth app "Say the Same Thing" was downloaded by Brandon Ashmore from Mentor, Ohio. Ashmore received $10,000 in credit as a thank you gift from Apple for downloading the 50 billionth app.

VMware Horizon Mobile, VMware's dual persona mobile device software, has become available for on some of Verizon's Android-based smartphones.

South Korean electronics giant Samsung on Monday claimed that it had successfully tested super-fast fifth-generation (5G) wireless technology that would offer transmitting speeds of up to several hundred times faster than the existing 4G networks.

The company said that the new technology allowed its researchers to transmit more than 1GB of data over a distance of two kilometers per second.
