Carpetright’s third-quarter sales growth had been heavily affected due to the unusually cold weather forcing would-be home renovators to avoid shopping trips. Despite this, Britain's largest and top ranked flooring retailer has stressed that it is optimistic that the renovation projects have been delayed and not altogether cancelled.
On the optimism that refurbishments would soon start in full swing, the company has maintained its complete year earnings forecast.
“When it’s frosty, people stay in the house, but the renovation projects still need to happen. It’s likely they’ve just delayed the decision to purchase", said Lord Harris of Peckham, Chief Executive and Chairman.
As of now, the group, as confirmed by Lord Harris, is expecting full-year earnings of about 38 Million Pounds on sales of 535 Million Pounds, all on the back of improving margins and the possibility that some lost sales and trade could be recovered over the coming weeks.
