The world's largest manufacturer of plasma televisions, Japan's Panasonic Corp. has set a target to boost group sales by over a third over the coming three years, as the company moves ahead to integrate Sanyo Electric Co Ltd. in its operations, as confirmed by Panasonic on Friday.
Last month, Panasonic managed to acquire a majority stake in the world's top ranked rechargeable battery maker. The company shared that it now aims for sales worth 9.5 Trillion Yen ($100 Billion) in the year up-to 2013, which is a substantial rise from its target of 7 Trillion for the current year.
With Sanyo offering solar cells in addition to rechargeable batteries, and Panasonic manufacturing cells, the new, combined Panasonic group is well in position to make the most of growing demand for renewable and energy-related products and services.
"Thanks to Sanyo, which is a key player in solar cells and rechargeable batteries and has strength in electronics devices and commercial equipment, the depth and width of Panasonic group has further expanded", said Panasonic President Fumio Ohtsubo.
