Apple releases iOS 6; many users may not upgrade right away

Apple releases iOS 6; many users may not upgrade right away With Apple announcing the general availability of its latest version of its operating system - iOS 6 - on Wednesday, September 19, hordes of Apple aficionados have already started downloading the company's newest OS.

The new iOS 6 appears to be quite a good alternative for both consumers and business users because the OS boasts more than 200 enhancements - including a notably improved Siri voice assistant, turn-by-turn GPS features, and Apple's Passbook digital wallet - over the current iOS version. In addition, the security offered by iOS 6 is the best thus far.

However, despite the noteworthy improvements which have come aboard iOS 6, many users would probably not rush into the download of the new OS just after its launch because a lot of consumers may not like to disrupt their current configuration of their mobile devices for a new offering; while businesses, as it is, largely refrain from using new software till it has been tested comprehensively.

Moreover, some of the key factors that may keep consumers and businesses from upgrading to the new OS right after its release could include the fact that Apple has done away with Google Maps - in favor of its own Maps app - and YouTube in the iOS 6.

Furthermore, some other hassles involved in the iOS upgrading process may also deter users from downloading iOS 6 right away --- including the need to have iTunes version 10.7 installed on their devices; ensuring that all apps are up-to-date; and making sure all purchases are safe.
