Days ahead of the scheduled Nokia World event in New York next week, photos of the Finnish handset-maker's two new Windows 8-based Lumia handsets - the Lumia 920 and the Lumia 820 - were leaked on the Web on Friday.

Surfacing on the @evleaks Twitter account around 7:30 a.m. ET on Friday, the two high-resolution leaked images showcase the two attractive Windows 8 Lumia handsets which Nokia is likely to unveil at its Nokia World event on September 5.

According to what was first reported by The Verge, the two handsets shown in the leaked images are the "Phi" and "Arrow" --- that is, Lumia 920 and Lumia 820 respectively. As per the report, both the handset will be available in a wide array of colors.

Going by the speculations stemming from the leaked images, the Nokia Lumia 920 smartphone will apparently feature a 4.5-inch screen, and also a PureView camera equipped with a mammoth 41-megapixel sensor. The handset will probably be, going by VentureBeat's conjecture, sold exclusively by AT&T.

The other leaked Nokia handset - the Lumia 820 - will have a 4.3-inch screen; and will, as VentureBeat speculates, run on the AT&T and T-Mobile networks. The smartphone will be available in seven colors, at least.

Meanwhile, noting that the launch of the two Windows 8 Lumia handsets will mark a crucial release for Nokia, Canaccord Genuity analyst Michael Walkley told Reuters that Nokia would desperately want the two handsets to sell well because the company has "bet everything on Windows."
