Foursquare brings “Nearby friends” feature back to iPhone and BlackBerry

Foursquare brings “Nearby friends” feature back to iPhone and BlackBerry Popular location-based social network Foursquare has finally brought the "Nearby friends" feature back on to the iPhone and BlackBerry.

The "Nearby friends" feature, which allows users to know what their friends in their vicinity are doing, was scrapped to only see check-ins from nearby friends in the Foursquare 5.0 revamp.

But the ability to switch between nearby check-ins and all activity is once again back. The company said it reintroduced the feature because it was one of the most demanded features in feedback for the "All New Foursquare"
(#allnew4sq).

Announcing the reintroduction of the feature, the company said, "Some people use foursquare to keep up with all of their friends, but sometimes you just want to know what's going on in your city."

Users of the iPhone can switch between the nearby check-ins and all activity by just dragging the screen down on your friends tab; while BlackBerry users can tap the friends-icon to switch between the two views.

The update is currently available only for the iPhone and BlackBerry device. Android users will have to wait more to get the "Nearby friends" feature.
