Ford announces ‘C-Max Energi’ – the plug-in version of its C-Max Hybrid

Ford announces ‘C-Max Energi’ – the plug-in version of its C-Max HybridIn a Tuesday announcement, Ford revealed that it is coming up with C-Max hybrid's plug-in version - dubbed `C-Max Energi' - which is scheduled to hit the US dealerships in fall this year.

According to Ford's announcement, the new C-Max Energi plug-in hybrid - which incidentally will be Ford's first plug-in hybrid - will be a five-passenger crossover that will be available this fall in 19 metro markets in 16 states of the US.

Further revealing that, by early next year, the C-Max Energi will be at approved electric-vehicle dealers in all the 50 US states, Ford said that the assembling of the vehicle by the company will take place at plants near its Michigan Assembly Plant in Wayne, Michigan. The battery pack and hybrid transmission of the vehicle will also be manufactured at these plants.

As per the details shared by Ford, the C-Max Energi plug-in hybrid will come with three distinct EV modes - namely, the EV: Auto; the EV: Now; and the EV: Later mode - which will essentially underscore the options for electric-only driving without gasoline engine power; driving the vehicle's normal hybrid mode; or driving in a battery-saving mode in which the battery power is reserved for later use.

Further disclosing that the top all-electric drive speed of the C-Max Energi will be 85 miles per hour (mph) - supposedly 20 mph faster than the Toyota Prius plug-in hybrid, Ford said that the vehicle will be priced at $29,995, including shipping charges and incentives.
