On Thursday, popular social network Facebook launched a new `facebookstories. com' website, which will give its over 950 million users the opportunity to share "some of the most extraordinary, quirky and thought-provoking stories and ideas."
With the Facebook Stories website essentially to feature stories that pertain to a different theme every month, drawing attention to the innovative ways in which users use Facebook, the website will give a boost not only to the self-image of the social network but also to people's opinion about it.
About the new Facebook Stories website, Facebook said in a statement it would be "spotlighting" the stories largely for the purpose of inspiring people "to find new uses for these technologies within their own lives."
In addition, Facebook also revealed that the Facebook Stories page will, along with the stories, also include some other `regular' monthly features, like a list of books and articles related to the featured story's central idea, and a Spofity playlist with tracks curated by "inspiring artists."
Further adding that users desirous of getting their stories featured on the Facebook Stories site can submit their own stories on different themes, Facebook disclosed that "remembering" is the theme for the first month, for which the Facebook Stories page will feature a video highlighting the story of a New Delhi, India-based man named Mayank Sharma who, after suffering from memory loss due to an illness, used the "people you may know" feature of the social network to rediscover his personal history.
