Uganda’s president urges people to avoid physical contactPeople have been urged by Uganda's President Yoweri Museveni to keep off any physical contact after a person died from Ebola virus in the capital Kampala.

It was stated in a broadcast that from the time the outbreak happened about three weeks back, 14 people have now died.

When it comes to Kampala, no confirmed cases have emerged of the infection spreading.

The latest outbreak was witnessed at western Kibaale district that is around 200 kilometres west of the Ugandan capital Kampala, and around 50 kilometres from the border with Democratic Republic of Congo.

Area that have been affected have already got teams to control the situation from the Ugandan health ministry and the US government's Centre for Disease Control (CDC).

It was added that there is a very strong response and as soon as it can be quarantine points will be set.

In 2007 also the rare haemorrhagic disease, named after a small river in DR Congo had claimed about 37 lives and way back in 2000 about 170 lives were taken by this disease.

The chances of death is upto 90 per cent in people who are infected as Ebola, one of the most virulent diseases in the world, is spread by close personal contact.
