Nintendo representative David Marshall has recently revealed that the popular game-console company will have a unified account system for the 3DS and the Wii U; thereby implying that users will have to create only one online account to be used for both systems.
While there currently is no such `unified accounts' connection between the 3DS and the Wii U, the newly-announced move means, for instance, that users who make a $20 addition to their account, for spending on digital downloads, will henceforth be able to spend $10 apiece on 3DS and Wii U content.
Nintendo's move in the direction of unified accounts for 3DS and Wii U is fairly akin to Sony's setup for the PlayStation Network (PSN); whereby the creation of one universal PSN ID facilitates the users in accessing their content and personal settings on their PS3, PlayStation Vita, PSP, or a PC.
Though comprehensive official details about Nintendo's unified accounts system still remain undisclosed, a Nintendo World Online report has revealed that, according to the information shared by Marshall, the unified account system will likely be implemented later this year.
Noting that there presently are no further details to offer about Nintendo's unified accounts system, Marshall said: "If the system has a problem, taking it to an Authorized Service Center will maintain the Nintendo eShop account"; and added that in case of theft, the account will be transferred to a new system, after the affected users provide Nintendo with "a valid police report."
