A lawsuit which has been going on for over 10 years, pitting a much smaller firm called Convolve against the giant Seagate Technology, has now taken an unexpected and interesting turn, with an ex-employee stepping in to explain how Seagate "appropriated" a technology by Convolve, and later "destroyed the evidence".
The former employee, Paul A. Galloway, has reportedly revealed "an eyewitness account" of Seagate blatant violations of laws and how the firm took hard-drive technology from Convolve and incorporated it into its own manufactured products. The details of the account have been given in documents which were recently filed with a Manhattan federal curt.
In the filing includes claims by Mr. Galloway that the larger technology firm, which is the world's top ranked and biggest manufacturer of computer hard drives, "tampered" with evidence which was substantial in Convolve's almost decade long patent infringement case against the company.
In 2000, Convolve and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology slapped a lawsuit on Seagate and Compaq Computer which demanded $800 Million over technology that pulled back the noise and vibration which is generated by hard-disk drives.
"I was deceived by my management's failure to tell me that the Convolve technology discussed within Seagate was NDA protected. If I had known about Convolve's NDA with Seagate, I would not have worked on competing technology", Mr. Galloway said.
