Apple iPhone’s official five-year anniversary – June 29, 2012With Apple having launched its first iPhone on June 29, 2007, the popular handset officially hit its landmark five-year anniversary of its launch on Friday, June 29, 2012.

Commemorating the milestone achievement of the iPhone, Strategy Analytics released its latest statistics on Wednesday, revealing that the nearly 250 million iPhone units cumulatively shipped worldwide over the last five years helped Apple generate cumulative revenues to the tune of approximately $150 billion.

Noting that the “iPhone portfolio has become a huge generator of cash and profit for Apple," Neil Mawston - Strategy Analytics’ executive director – said: "A quarter of a billion iPhones have been shipped cumulatively worldwide in the first five years since launch and Apple reaches its fifth birthday at the top of its game."
