Bird flu becoming concern for scientists

Bird flu becoming concern for scientistsConcerns about spread of bird flu becoming a global epidemic has been worrying scientists as controversial research papers detailing how to more easily spread the deadly bird flu.

Virus strains were made by researchers and these could potentially be transmitted through the air from person to person. Virus strains that were dangerous could be spotted easily by scientists.

U. S. biosecurity panel had advised last December that the work should not be published as this work was all about the genetic mutations used to make the strains.

They did so because they felt that if these papers were published then terrorists could be able to make a biological weapon.

There were discussions among scientists and others about sharing the results with other researchers were essential to deal with the flu risk.

For many years bird flu has spread among poultry in Asia and it can be fatal in people but it only rarely jumps to humans. It was only through direct contact with chicken and ducks that were infected.

There has been a worry among scientists about virus picking up mutations and spreading in humans easily as this could have disastrous results in humans.
