NHS must change course

NHS must change courseNHS is going towards disaster and seeing this, the leader of England's hospital and primary care trusts has warned that the NHS must change course if it is to survive.

According to Mike Farrar, of the NHS Confederation, which represents managers, when we talk about the NHS, there has been a severe failure.

Short-term electoral interests are being put ahead by politicians, he added. He stated that patients could suffer if this was not addressed with immediate effect and there can be real financial difficulty for the health services.

The three-day annual conference starts in Manchester and Farrar was speaking ahead of the confederation's conference.

Evidence was collected from over 250 NHS trust chief executives and chairman and this was released by the group.

There was a serious financial situation that was being faced by the health service and some said that it was the worst that they ever witnessed.

This will even get worse as radical change is not there like hospital closures and mergers and greater integration with community services. This can keep the costs down and also help patients manage their conditions.
