Announcing the availability of the much-raved-about Nokia PureView 808 smartphone in the US, Nokia said via its blog post announcement on Monday that the handset will be available for $699 unlocked, via Amazon. com.
Nokia, however, refrained from disclosing any exact date for the US availability of the PureView 808, saying that the handset will hit the US markets some time in the future, it did mention that interested potential buyers can sign up for alerts about the timeline for the handset's release.
Revealing the Nokia and Amazon will bring the PureView 808 to the US, the Finland-based handset manufacturer said in the blog post that the US customers will have to shell out $699 for the unlocked Symbian OS smartphone, over and above the cost of a compatible SIM card and AT&T plan.
Some of the most attractive features of the impressive Nokia PureView 808 include a highly-notable 41-megapixel camera with the best-performing Carl Zeiss optics thus far, as well as Nokia's brand-new pixel oversampling technology which essentially combines up to seven pixels into one "pure" pixel, and eliminates the visual noise that is commonly found on the cameras of other mobile handsets.
In addition, the PureView 808 also includes full HD 1080p video recording and playback with 4X lossless zoom. The handset also boasts the world's first use of Nokia Rich Recording, which underscores the advantage of audio recording at CD-like levels of quality, which has, till now, been possible only with external microphones.
