Apple talks about MacBook Pro and iOS updates in its WWDC keynote address

Apple talks about MacBook Pro and iOS updates in its WWDC keynote address Two of the most notable announcements which Apple made during its June 11 keynote address at its Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) included the revelation of the MacBook Pro with a shiny new high-definition screen, and the updates to the company's iOS mobile operating system.

While the announcement related to MacBook Pro was apparently one of the biggest attractions of the event, it is the iOS updates which will seemingly have the most noteworthy impact on the users in future, as well as target Apple's biggest OS-market competitor, Google.

Apple's decision to bring on a brand new map system which will boast 3-D imaging, along with voice-assisted, turn-by-turn navigation, is a clear indication of the fact that the attempts are underway at the company to keep iPhone and iPad users home, rather than having them click on the operating system's go-to app, Google Maps.

Moreover, Apple's move to bring the Siri upgrade for its newest iOS version - the iOS 6 - underscores that the company no longer intends Siri to be an iPhone 4S-exclusive only --- instead, it is apparently aiming at making the feature a full-fledged "digital assistant," with its most important component being voice-activated search.

Noting that Apple will seemingly try to create "a consortium of powerful web partners to offer an experience that largely falls outside of Google's walls," Piper Jaffray analyst Gene Munster said: "We believe Apple will continue to add content partners for Siri to marginalize Google's presence on the iPhone."
