According to a report from The Verge, citing the information shared by a Verizon employee, the carrier's new FiOS structuring - which will increase the speed of its top-tier FiOS plan by two times - will be available to the subscribers on June 17.
As per the details revealed by the unidentified Verizon employee - who also sent supposed training material to The Verge -, the new service will bump up the speed of Verizon's top-tier FiOS plan to 300 Mbps for downloads and 65 Mbps for uploads; and will cost the customers $204.99 per month with a two-year service agreement --- that is, $5 more than the cost of the carrier's existing top-tier 150 Mbps plan.
Other than the speed boosts for the top-tier FiOS plan, Verizon is also bringing price and speed changes to its lower-speed plans; with the cost of the carrier's base 15/5 Mbps service to witness a $10 increase to $64.99.
However, the cost of the new 50/25 Mbps and 150/65 Mbps plans to remain unchanged at the current charges of $74.99 and $94.99 respectively.
Generally speaking, going by the revelation by The Verge's source, Verizon's overall FiOS service - which gives the users the access to the company's fiber optic network - will be divided into six different pricing levels; thereby marking an increase of two levels from the carrier's present offering of four price tiers.
