Singapore telco to launch Samsung Galaxy S III on May 29

Singapore telco to launch Samsung Galaxy S III on May 29According to reports, Singapore telco M1 will apparently launch the S$998-priced Samsung smartphone - the much-hyped and eagerly-awaited Samsung Galaxy S III - from Tuesday, May 29.

Though there is still no confirmation about whether the Galaxy S III will also be sold by other telcos in Singapore on the same date, it has been reported that the handset will be available at M1's Paragon Shopping Centre store from 9pm on May 29.

Samsung had announced the Galaxy S III handset in London earlier this month, at the Samsung Mobile Unpacked event. As per reports, the company has already received approximately 9 million pre-orders - though the numbers have not been officially confirmed by Samsung - for the handset; thereby indicating that the demand or the phone will clearly be overwhelming.

Some of the most attractive features of the Galaxy S III include a 4.8-inch Super AMOLED 1,280-by-720 screen; a quad-core processor; and a maximum of 64GB of built-in storage capacity. The handset will also feature an
8-megapixel rear camera and 1.9-megapixel front-facing camera; and will run the Android 4.0 `Ice Cream Sandwich' version.

Meanwhile, with the Galaxy S III reportedly scheduled to hit the Singapore markets this coming Tuesday, US consumers who want to be among the early buyers of the handset can purchase it from Amazon on June 1, but at a rather steep price --- Amazon is already taking US pre-orders for a 16GB SIM-free international Galaxy S III version at $800!
