Samsung official inadvertently confirms ‘Galaxy S III’ name for forthcoming handset

Samsung official inadvertently confirms ‘Galaxy S III’ name for forthcoming handsetEven though Samsung has largely refrained from making any official disclosure about the name of its forthcoming handset in its Galaxy line of devices, an inadvertent reference to the handset by a company official has revealed that the device may possibly have the much-rumored `Galaxy S III' name.

The advertent disclosure about the `Galaxy S III' came from Robert Yi - Samsung's Senior Vice President - while recently concluding the company's first-quarter earnings call, at which Samsung reported a record net profit of 5.05 trillion won ($4.44 billion), largely because of strong smartphone sales.

With the next Galaxy handset being a highly noteworthy subject during Samsung's quarterly earnings call, Yi inadvertently let out the name of the forthcoming handset when he said at the end of the call: "We are anticipating very strong demand of Galaxy S III."

The mention of the `Galaxy S III' name by Yi did not come during the prepared remarks, but towards the conclusion of the proceedings, when the Samsung executives were involved in a question-answer session with analysts and reporters.

The inadvertent disclosure by Yi substantiates earlier reports and rumors which have been making rounds about the next-generation Galaxy S handset for quite some time now. Samsung apparently plans to officially introduce the handset at its May 3-scheduled media event in London; with the company's invitees for the event having clearly mentioned the unveiling of "the next Galaxy."
