77 years old Japan’s Finance Minister Hirohisa Fujii had been hospitalized for rest and medical checkup due to high blood pressure and fatigue at 10.00 am (GMT) on Monday.

To compile the budget, the Minister had been burning mid night oil, this made him extremely tired and his blood pressure increased.

Ministry sources said that that there is no serious health problem with the Minister, but he has been admitted just for health check up, and added that he might be tired due to arduous work of compiling the budget.

Mr. Fujii is a veteran lawmaker, and incoming Prime Minister selected him in September to guide the second largest economy of the world to come out of the recession.

Mr. Fujii had earlier also worked as finance minister for a small period in early 1990s.

His stay at hospital is yet to be decided by doctors but he is expected to attend the next cabinet meeting which is tentatively scheduled for Wednesday. The local media predicted that his stay would last around ten days.
