Balldev extradited to the US on terrorism charges

The 48-year-old businessman, Balldev Naidu has been extradited to the United States on his alleged involvement in terrorism activities. A founder member of Reform Party has been charged for financial and morally supporting the banned terrorist outfits-the Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam, responsible for disturbance in Sri Lanka.

Naidu was earlier remanded at the CPL Building in Toa Payoh and believed to be under custody t the Maryland Reception, Diagnostic and Classification Center in Baltimore for his alleged role in purchasing arms for the Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam, a Sri Lankan separatist movement.

Balldev termed the charges against him as baseless adding that he has never been involved with the Tamil Tigers. He would be produced before the court on Tuesday. His peer 57-year-old Haniff Osman has already been awarded jail for 37 months by a Baltimore court last year.

Meanwhile, Singapore police has informed his wife regarding his whereabouts while she had been previously apprised regarding his extradition to US few days back. Mrs. Balldev refuted the charges leveled against her husband adding that he has nothing to do with Tamil Tigers.
