In what apparently is the latest report on the much-speculated launch of the next iteration of the Apple iPad - the iPad 3 as it is referred to -, AllThingsD cited unnamed `inside' sources to reveal that the iPad 3 will be unveiled at a high-profile event in San Francisco in March. The tablet will reportedly feature a powerful processor as well as Retina Display.
According to the AllThingsD report, dated February 9, the sources have disclosed that though the final "street date" for the iPad 3 is yet to be decided by Apple, the forthcoming tablet will be quite similar in appearance to the iPad
2.
However, the report also said that despite the similarity in the looks, the iPad 3 will run a notably speedier processor than its predecessor, and will boast features like a much enhanced graphics processing unit, and most likely a
2048x1536 Retina Display.
Earlier, in a February 1 post on the Boy Genius Report (BGR) blog, it was reported that an A6 processor will likely come aboard the iPad 3; with sources `in the know' of proceedings at Apple also providing screenshots of "output from an iPad 3 using a development and debug tool called iBoot."
On the basis of the screenshots, it is being speculated that the next-generation iPad will seemingly be available in two versions --- one will be a Wi-Fi-only version; and the other version will be "Wi-Fi and embedded GSM/CDMA/LTE for all carriers."
