A total of 650 Housing & Development Board (HDB) flats owners in Boon Lay Drive will get new homes, thanks to the government's Selective En bloc Redevelopment Scheme (SERS).
The HDB will construct as many as 710 new flats at Jurong West Central, next to Boon Lay MRT station & Jurong Point, to provide the flat owners with new homes. The new units will include 2-room, 3-room, 4-room and 5-room sets.
Authorities have chosen six blocks, 167 to 172, for the re-housing scheme. The six blocks are around 38 years old. Residents are expected to move to new flats sometime in 2016.
With the new flats, residents will also enjoy facilities like fitness stations, a playground and a community garden. They will also find amenities like schools, shops, supermarkets and a bus interchange at just a stone's throw away.
Eligible flat owners will soon be invited to register their names for the new replacement flats.According to HDB, SERS has already benefited more than 35,000 households across seventy-six sites since its launch 1995.
