With the aim to expand its Indian routes, the budget carrier launched operation to three new routes from KL to Kochi, Kolkata and Trivandrum. The routes had been opened for sale of October 15, and every since the opening, the carrier has reportedly received an overwhelming response with nearly 100,000 seats sold.
"With Kochi now added to our extensive network, AirAsia is unlocking the potential of international air travel from Kuala Lumpur to Southern India and its surrounding areas. We are thrilled to be serving Kochi direct, a huge market that no other airline is serving directly", said Kathleen Tan.
AirAsia has now become the only KL carrier to operate daily direct flights from Kochi.
