Apple's iPhone to Hit South Korean Markets this Week

South Korea, one of the World's most sophisticated mobile phone markets, will see the launch of Apple's popular smartphone, the iPhone, this week, as was confirmed by the country's second-largest network carrier, KT Corp., on Sunday.

The carrier started accepting orders, both online and in-stores, for the iPhone on Sunday, and services are scheduled to officially launch on November 28, KT spokesperson Alice Park confirmed.

The South Korean market for mobile handsets is currently dominated by local manufactures Samsung and LG, but their stance is now definitely threatened with one of the world's most sought after and renowned smartphones hitting the country. South Koreans had been waiting for this launch for a very long time, and the country has lagged behind other Asian nations in introducing the iPhone.

"We are thrilled to bring iPhone to South Korea", said Kim Woo-sik, CEO of KT's Personal Customer Group. "Our customers will enjoy the power and benefits of using the revolutionary iPhone on KT's 3G network".

While Apple has confirmed the South Korean launch, no further details or pricing have been revealed yet.
