Gameloft Plans to Invest Less in Developments for Android Platform
Gameloft

In today's times, more and more manufacturers and developers of mobile handsets and mobile software are working on offerings that are Android platform based, and Gameloft, credited with making numerous well received and popular mobile games, has sent shock ripples everywhere by announcing that it plans to invest less in software development for Android.

The plan was recently revealed by Gameloft's Finance Director Alexandre de Rochefort, who asserted that the main problem is that Google's Android application store "is not as neatly done as on the iPhone", and this could lead to a market that does not encourage customers who have Android based phones to buy applications. He further explains that "on Android, nobody is making significant revenue because Google hasn't done a very good job of promoting software on the Android".

While iPhone games alone have managed to generate a whopping 13% revenue for Gameloft, Android games only account for about 0.0325% revenue, which is 400 times less in comparison.

Many are now of the opinion that Google should try to move away from its current advertising form which greatly relies on word-of-mouth, and invest in some real promotion of its products so that more people know about the Android and why it could be better.
