Recent study has shown that women under going surgery just for the sake of better looking vagina could have health problems later on as much research hasn’t been done on the long term effects of Labioplasty on health.
Experts from University College London also claimed that most women undergoing this treatment don’t possess proper knowledge about the procedure.
Research team studied various psychological and physical reasons under which a woman decides to under go this surgery. It was found that aesthetically appealing sex organ was the most dominating reason.
Other women cite reason such as difficulty in wearing tight clothes or riding a bike, while some women say that they are embarrassed in front of a sexual partner. Some women said that low self-esteem and sexual difficulties was reason behind surgery.
Consultant gynaecologist Sarah Creighton and psychologist Lih-Mei Liao said that women willing to under go this surgery must be given counseling and support. Research team added that it is also possible that surgery can increase sexual problems by damaging the nerve supply to the area, leading to impaired sexual sensitivity and satisfaction.
