World's giant software maker Adobe Systems Inc. has announced that it will be axing as many as 680 jobs, which amounts to roughly 9% of the firm's workforce, with the view to restructure and further control costs during the current financially difficult times.
As of September 15, Adobe recorded a total of 7,564 employees, a number which has steadily been coming down. Similar to many other companies which have experienced the financial crunch, Adobe has been cutting jobs over the past few years.
After the recent lay-off, Adobe is looking to record pretax costs of as much as $65 Million to $71 Million. Also, the firm has confirmed that the cuts would not affect employees of its recently acquired venture Omniture Inc. This, although, has been opposite of the plans Adobe had previously shared, according to which there were going to be some 9% job-cuts out of the 1,200 Omniture employees who had joined the company through the October 23 acquisition.
The announcement, however, had no major effect on Adobe's shares which traded at $36.60, after a slight 15 cents increase.
