Microsoft inks deals with Twitter and Facebook to integrate the real time data from these two web based organisations into their own web engine ‘Bing’. It is no surprise that Bing commands a very low share of search engine market, but this would give it a good edge. Even Google Chief Executive Eric Schmidt termed this a ‘smart move’ on the part of the software giants.
Shortly Google also unveiled its plans to incorporate the 140 character long ‘Tweets’ into its search pages. But rest assured this incorporation would not be happening any time soon, as deals of such nature and enormity are not finalised over a matter of hours but takes months to conclude.
Twitter, a 3 year old web start-up, that has become a sensation, mostly by the celebrities and politicians, has a hit-count of tens of millions everyday. It makes sense to include this emerging data and make available for the users of the search engines to search and find it.
Schmidt, speaking at a Gartner technology conference also commented about its Enterprise aspirations, Google's revenue from business services, often referred to broadly as enterprise. They plan to focus on products used both by consumers and enterprise rather than differentiate.
