Thief gets caught in a GPS test just in 9 minutes

phone-TheftHoratio Toure, stole an iPhone today from a woman and soon after 9 minutes he was taken in custody.

The rapid action catch was result of the testing that the phone was undergoing where the software was being tested for tracking down GPS locations, which made the company determine the exact site and location of Toure's.

The woman from whom the phone was lifted was Jordan Sturm, an assistant at Covia Labs, the company incharge for designing the software. Sturm was testing for the "Alert & Respond," the app catering for real-time GPS tracking.

David Kahn, the CEO of the company, was keeping a track of Sturm through a laptop, displaying the feature of "Alert and Respond" software to his PR team. And as soon as the phone was lifted the GPS showed as if Sturm had suddenly grown wings or wheels, leading to suspicions by Kahn.

These suspicions were later confirmed by Strum and the thief was caught.

However the company states that in actual sense the software can remotely switch on the camera and take a snap and also turn on the microphone to record the conversations.
