The FroYo version for Android has not yet hit the shelves but sparks of the new version for the Android OS comes in termed as "Gingerbread". Supposedly the Gingerbread will be released in the last quarter of 2010 and shall come with all major changes and upgrades.
According to the market experts in order to run this new version of Android OS one should have at least a 1GHZ CPU, 512MB RAM with a 3.5-inch or larger display. In addition to this other large devices will come with all new resolution such as 1280*760 - that should compare well with the iPhone 4's 960* 640 screen.
Also the UI has been upgraded and as the reports claim Android from here on be separated into two branches with the Gingerbread set to run on newer and more powerful, high-end devices whereas in case of lower-end phones, they shall feature the then "older" versions. This certainly is an exciting news but still it needs to be confirmed if one would be able to upgrade to the next edition of the Android OS or not.
