Intel has proclaimed of porting across the Android mobile operating system onto devices that run using the firm’s Atom chipset.
A representative confirmed that a version of Android 2.2 has been made ready to ship off to developers before the end of summer.
Intel on the other hand is keen on keeping the new variant of Android an open sourced platform, reports APC.
This move strengthens the path of Android even further in the mobile OS front, with figures from the research firm Gartner stating last month and placing the firm on fourth place in the world smartphone rankings with a 10% operating system market share.
It was further stated that the feat was achieved via knocking the Windows Mobile into fifth place, and acquiring Microsoft’s mobile OS with 7% share. Microsoft aims to bring a change with this move.
