Ford Chief gets higher pay than his Japanese counterparts

As per a filing with the Japanese regulator, the combined compensation of the top chiefs of Japanese automakers was lesser than that of Alan Mulally, Chief of Ford Motors. This makes Alan the highest paid auto-person in the world.

Akio Morida, President of world's largest automaker was not considered in this calculation.

Meanwhile, in the filing the salary of Carlos Ghosn of Nissan Motors was 891 million yen followed by Takanobu Ito of Honda Motors, who earned 115 million yen.

Data compiled by Bloomberg shows that the Toyoda and Ito are amongst the highest. The average package in the world was $12 million. And on the top sat Alan with $17.9 million; for the year 2009.

Analysts say that such difference has happened because of the increasing competition and also is the impact of the globalization. This meant that the importance of the strong and decisive management has increased manifolds and such gaps are the effect of the same.

Ford is the beleaguered company that filed for bankruptcy in 2008. It made major pay-cuts and lay-offs so that it is able to keep its costs low.
