Apple’s iPad Abandoned by Few Colleges for Network Stability Issues

Apple’s iPad has been rejected by two top universities, George Washington University and Princeton University for network stability issues. Cornell University is also concerned about bandwidth overload and is witnessing connectivity problems with the device.

The tablet was earlier applauded by most of the people as a next wave in the education technology. These issues can prove to be a fatal blow to Apple. It had tried to attract education market by highlighting its portability and availability of e-books. But students may not be willing to pay $499, if they still need a desktop or laptop computer to check course assignments or email.

Cornell's Information-Technology Director, Steve Schuster, shared that the school is seeing networking and connectivity issues. Moreover, it is working to make it sure that the iPad does not have devastating consequences to the network.

The colleges have been trying to find the fixes to the connectivity, security as well as network problems. iPad’s operating system will be fully supported on its network by next spring.

Though Princeton clarified that it had reported the technical issues to the company, but Apple Spokeswoman, Teresa Brewer unveiled that she was unaware of any such problems that these schools were facing.

As a matter of fact, many school networks are accepting iPads without trouble, while some of the universities are accepting the device. But even those schools admit that the apparatus has its flaws.
