Hike seen in Singapore July bunker sales by 3.8pct MoM

After an increase in the previous month sales, marine fuel sales of more than 20 million tones, for the first 7 months of 2009, have been posted by Singapore's bunkering sector.

The July bunker sales hiked by 3.8% MoM from June, to 3.0726 million tonnes, as per the preliminary estimates from Maritime and Port Authority (MPA) of Singapore. The figures were largely boosted by sales of 380 centistokes bunker grade. Furthermore, sales for July increased by 1.4% YoY as compared to 3.0309 million tonnes in the same month last year.

The total sales for the first seven months of 2009 were 20.9647 million tonnes, said MPA data. The sales crossed the annual sales of 20.809 million tonnes in 2003. An increase was also noticed in sales from January to July 2009 period, from the 20.3888 million tonnes sold in the same period of 2008.

Bunkerworld was informed by an independent physical supplier, "July sales rose 1.4% compared to 3.0309 million tonnes in the same month last year. There were a lot of orders and demand was healthy last month."
