Singapore firms posted more ads for professional jobs in July

Singapore based firms placed more advertisements for professional jobs in second quarter of the current financial year, indicating signs of recovery in the economy adversely impacted by global slowdown. Singapore lags behinds only to Hong Kong which posted 9.1 per cent rise in advertisements during the quarter.

About 177,000 openings were found in the period between April-June this year as much as 8 per cent higher than advertised in Q1, according to job index of recruitment consultant Robert Walter who tracks advertisement volumes for professional positions across job websites and national newspapers.

 The construction and building industry posted more opening to find engineers, surveyors, architects and technicians which indicate improvement in demand across the sectors. Financial sector too advertised for more openings and there was less visibility of freezing in hiring.

About 27000 ads were placed by retail servicing, sales and business development as the sectors were looking for more professional to meet their workforce needs. The country witnessed surge in marketing and advertising in April, indicating revival of business confidence as they started to invest more in the business activities.
