Business class air fares plunge 22%
air fare

Thursday saw a local paper putting forth that air fare in business class travel fell 22%, which came as good news for premium travelers.

American Express (Amex), which regularly tracks air fares across the Asia-Pacific, informed that prices for business-class air tickets out of Singapore fell by 22 percent from the April to June quarter, compared to the fares three months back. Furthermore, the prices were also down by 19%, compared to the same period last year.

But it should be noted that economy class fares remained stable, with only 2 percent fall quarter-on-quarter. The fares of the Asia-Pacific on the whole, have only increased by 1 percent in the second quarter over the previous quarter.

A rebound in air-travel demand was seen only by some markets, which included India and Japan. The lower fares also gave advantage to travelers in China, New Zealand and Vietnam, apart from Singapore.
