Mail carriers collect abundance of food
Nearly 14,000 pounds of food in Statesville and in northern Iredell County with the U. S Post Office carriers picking them during the Stamp Out Hunger food drive on Saturday. Around 13,000 pounds was collected in Statesville and Scotts.

North Henderson High School set for Friday Relay for Life
The event, Relay for Life for the second year, at the North Henderson High School will feature musical entertainment; kid centered activities as well as more traditional Relay for Life events including a survivor walk and the lightning of luminary. With admission is free with low cost or suggested donations for the activities and food , Business Education Teacher Lisa King said hopes a few thousand people will come out to show their support for the 280 students on relay terms.
Gold Marks New Record High on Wednesday
Spot-gold prices rallied to new record highs on Wednesday in a bulge of optimistic response and a flight from currencies to the secure refuge of gold.
Gold marked a high of $1,243.90 per troy ounce, and was in recent times trading at $1,242.50 per troy ounce, which is up by 0.9% from a day earlier. On Tuesday, gold broke above its preceding record high of $1,226.30/oz.
