Nokia introduces $99 smartphone in India
Finnish handset maker Nokia has introduced an affordable touchscreen smartphone for emerging markets, including India.
The Nokia Asha 501 smartphone features a 3-inch screen, a 3.2-megapixel rear-facing camera and a memory capacity of 4GB that can be expanded to 32GB.
HRD ministry puts order of Akash tablets on hold
India's union human resource development ministry has put the order for 50 million units of Akash tablet from vendor Datawind on hold due to various reasons including production delays and possibly due to availability of a wide variety of cheaper alternatives.

Karbonn has just announced the release of a new promising Android-based smartphone dubbed the Karbonn Retina A27.
Available online at Saholic for Rs 9,090, the Retina A27 runs on Google's Android 4.1 Jelly Bean operating system, and features a 4.3-inch qHD IPS display that offers a resolution of 960 by 540 pixels.

Higher import duties puts pressure on luxury carmakers in India
Automobile production has been encouraged in India. Indian government has redefined the meaning of completely knocked down (CKD) auto components. Higher import duties are assigned to assembled engines and gearboxes.
Earlier there is 10% import duty on CKD but now it has been raised to 30%, to encourage domestic manufacturing of the cars.
