Gif should be pronounces as 'jif': Steve Wilhite
Steve Wilhite, the inventor of popular Graphics Interchange Format (GIF), has insisted that his invention should be pronounced as `jif' and not `gif'.
In an interview with The New York Times, Wilhite stressed that he got frustrated by those people who pronounce the name of the widely used animated images file as `gif'.
