On Friday, December 14, Verizon Wireless finally started rolling out - in a phased manner - the Android 4.1 `Jelly Bean' upgrade to its customers using the Samsung Galaxy S III handset.

On Monday, T-Mobile USA revealed that it has struck a deal with Verizon Wireless under which it will "purchase and exchange of certain Advanced Wireless Services (AWS) spectrum licenses in 218 markets across the US."

According to a report from The Verge, citing the information shared by a Verizon employee, the carrier's new FiOS structuring - which will increase the speed of its top-tier FiOS plan by two times - will be available to the subscribers on June 17.

The newly-launched HomeFusion broadband service by Verizon Wireless essentially aims at US households which lack access to other high-speed Internet connections, though it will also hold immense appeal for those homes in which the main Internet option happens to be a digital subscriber line.

With Apple having named both AT&T and Verizon Wireless as the initial carriers for the mobile version of its highly-rumored, Wednesday-unveiled new iPad, Macquarie Securities' analyst Kevin Smithen has projected that Verizon will apparently get a bigger boost from the new tablet as compared to its rival carrier AT&T.

Verizon Wireless Thursday announced the US availability of the Samsung Galaxy Nexus handset --- the first smartphone which is equipped with the latest iteration of Google's increasingly popular Android operating system, the Android 4.0 `Ice Cream Sandwich (ICS)' version. The handset is being sold by Verizon for $299.99 with a two-year contract.
