Social-networking giant Facebook and software major Microsoft on Friday disclosed the total number of legal orders they received for user data from various U. S. government entities.

Facebook disclosed that it 9,000 to 10,000 legal orders during the second half of 2012, asking for user data relating to 18,000 to 19,000 accounts.

Apple's iTunes Store on Friday started offering an iPhone version of Microsoft Office app, allowing iPhone users to reap benefits of the popular suite.

The app allows users to edit documents started on other screens in Word, Excel and PowerPoint. It will make it much easier for users to incorporate last-ditch changes or suggestions into shared materials that everybody in a group can see.

Software giant Microsoft on Tuesday announced that it had hit a partnership with Twitch, one of the world's leading platform and community for gamers, to allow live streaming through its new gaming & entertainment system Xbox One.

Microsoft's next operating system Windows 8.1 will come equipped with a number of new security, BYOD and mobility features that will be available across the Consumer, Pro and Enterprise editions.

The days of dominance of Microsoft's operating system are finally over, Ubuntu founder Mark Shuttleworth said.

Ina comment on the Ubuntu bugs page, Shuttleworth declared that bug number one was fixed. The fixed bug's title is "Microsoft has a majority market share".

Microsoft's Windows 8.1 operating system, a. k. a.  Windows Blue, will reportedly bring back the `Start' button.

According to a screenshot published by Windows Supersite's Paul Thurrott on Wednesday, the Start button will be positioned on the taskbar of the upcoming operating system.
