On Wednesday, bigwig US bookstore Barnes & Noble (B&N) took the wraps off its first thin and light high-definition tablets --- the $199-priced 7-inch Nook HD, and the $269-priced 9-inch Nook HD+.

In a move which apparently has something to do with Amazon's much-rumored Kindle refresh, and Google's decision to venture into the tablet arena with its 7-inch Nexus tablet, Barnes and Noble (B&N) has recently announced that it is slashing the cost of its Nook devices.

In the midst of a CNET report that Barnes & Noble (B&N) is working on a new 7-inch tablet with "revolutionary screen technology," the retailer has come up with an offer of a 50 gift card for customers who purchase its Nook Tablet before the end of this month.

In a move which will gives the readers of e-books the advantage of reading e-ink easily during nighttime, Barnes & Noble (B&N) Thursday unveiled the Nook Simple Touch with GlowLight --- an e-reader that boasts an in-built light which illuminates the screen of the device in the dark.

On Thursday as Ron Burkle’s lawsuit against the bookseller Barnes & Nobles seeking to have more holdings in the company was dismissed by a judge the heated battle with the bookseller continued unabated.

The management at Barnes and Noble Inc. are having trouble locating buyers. The World’s largest bookstore chain is looking out for buyers in an attempt to salvage the financial mess the Company is in.

Barnes & Noble has launched its own electronic reader, “Nook”, on Tuesday in Manhattan. The device will compete with the Amazon’s “Kindle” and Sony Corp's Sony Reader among other electronic readers. These e-readers allow users to read digital information on a tablet-sized device.

Barnes & Noble is taking a leap into a crowded market dominated by the Amazon’s “Kindle”. Sony’s reader is the next most popular device, and other established products in this niche segment include readers from iRex and Plastic Logic.
