Under the headship of CEO Thorsten Heins, Research In Motion (RIM)'s BlackBerry platform has apparently started moving in the right direction; as was evident from the Wednesday launch of the company's BlackBerry 10 OS version as well as supporting handsets, including the new BlackBerry Z10.

South Korean electronics major, Samsung has announced the launch of its new smartphone platform Bada in the Indian market. The company has also announced plans to reduce the prices of its smartphones in the country by the end of this year in order to expand its market share.

The new platform was launched during the Global Developer Day organized by Samsung in Bangalore. The company presented the benefits and opportunities the platform will offer to developers, mobile operators and consumers along with the fundamentals of the platform.

Samsung today announced the launch of its phone, Galaxy S based on Android 2.1 platform in the global markets. More than one hundred service providers around the world will offer the phone on their networks.

The smartphone is powered by 1GHz Cortex A8 Hummingbird CPU and 512 MBs of RAM that process apps efficiently and with great speeds. Samsung is also offering the Social Hub integrated messaging facility on the handset along with its TouchWiz 3.0 user interface.

In a nearly one line launch this week, US chip seller Qualcomm says that it has started dispatching the chips that will get together against the Apple A4, its Snapdragon dual core chips.
