HTC Expresses Commitment to Partners
Putting down a rumor about its plans of setting up of an app store, HTC expressed its strong commitment to its partners Microsoft and Google.
"Our commitment to Microsoft has never changed. Of course, we are very committed to Android as well. We are very long-term committed to those two", said Peter Chou, HTC's CEO.
HCL launches eco friendly ME 40
The leading computing company, HCL has launched India's first eco friendly notebook which is without Polyvinyl Chloride under its ME series, called HCL ME 40.
The device is highly recyclable and aims at achieving the Green Computing concept. The notebook is powered by Intel core 2Duo processor. It features 1.3 megapixel webcam, four USB ports, 4-in-1 card reader as well as Bluetooth. It battery offers about five hours of work time.
Facebook Zero Launched for Mobile Phones
Facebook Zero, the stripped-down, text-only version of the world's biggest social network website, Facebook, was revealed at the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona.
The low-bandwidth site, "omits data intensive applications like photos", and aims at as many as 100 million people who access Facebook from their mobiles.
The new site would help operators free-up critical bandwidth on their networks, reported the analysts at CCS Insight.
Kodak Complains Against RIM, Apple
Research In Motion and Apple smartphones, having digital cameras are being interrogated by the International Trade Commission, as they got a complaint from Eastman Kodak Co.
The trade body opened an investigation into Canada's Research In Motion Ltd. (maker of BlackBerry smartphones), and Apple Inc. ( maker of the iPhone), as Kodak claimed copyright intrusion by the same.
Willcom Files for Protection Against Bankruptcy
Willcom Inc. has filed for protection against bankruptcy in the Tokyo District Court with liabilities of 206bn Yen.
Willcom is looking forward to win support from ETIC, Softbank Corp. and LLP.
After failing to reschedule the payment of debts, the firm expressed its inability to revive plans.
The Japanese firm has been facing tough competition form rivals like NTT DoCoMo Inc., KDDI Corp. and Softbank. it is now undergoing an obligation to improve on its network.
reMail, Mobile E-mail Search Start-up Acquired by Google
Google recently acquired reMail, used for downloading user's e-mail to their phones by a startup that sells an iPhone application. According to a blog posted it was stated by reMail founder Gabor Cselle informing that the reMail iPhone application is being terminated. However he exposed nothing regarding Google's step on this issue. Cselle, who earlier was a software engineer and then VP of engineering at e-mail startup Xobni, is unifying with Google as a Gmail Product Manager.
Windows Identification Service Resolved
Hotmail e-mail and Windows Live Messenger instant messaging programs were fixed by Microsoft Corp. after a brief outage, by the customers who complained that they were unable to get access to Hotmail's free e-mail accounts and other services.
